Propranolol

Propranolol (Inderal – brand name) Generic name is Anaprilin.

Propranolol is non-selective beta-adrenergic blocking agent which acts on beta 1 - and beta 2-adrenergic receptors. Propranolol has antianginal, hypotensive and antiarrythmic effects. It also reduces sinus node automatism, leads to heart rate fall, slows atrioventricular conduction, decreases myocardial contractility and reduces myocardial oxygen demand. It’s important to say that Propranolol decreases myocardial excitability, reduces the ectopic focuses uprising, it also has membrane-stabilizing and hypotensive actions. Propranolol is used to reduce the HDL level and to increase triglyceride level and bronchus tonus.

Arterial hypertension, exertional angina, unstable angina, sinus tachycardia (including hyperthyroidism), supraventricular tachycardia, tachysystolic form of atrial fibrillation, supraventricular and ventricular extrasystole, essential tremor, fear syndrome, migraine prophylaxes, thyrotropic crisis.
